SKYINK

Privacy: the iPhone app.

What the Sky İnk app keeps, where it keeps it, and how to be rid of it. Last updated 15 October 2026.

Your films stay on your phone

The app renders every film on the device and saves it to Photos when you ask. No film, no frame and no thumbnail is ever uploaded. It asks for add-only access to Photos, once, when you save a film; it cannot see your photo library, and refusing keeps the film in the app. It asks for nothing else: no location, no camera, no contacts, no microphone.

What we keep, if you sign in

Signing in is optional: routes, films and restyling work without an account. When you do sign in — with Apple or with Google, no password — we keep:

What the app asks our service

For a leg by road, rail, sea or on foot, the app sends the leg's two places and its means of travel and gets the line back; the line is kept under those two places for whoever asks next, never with your name. The close-up map of the Atlas look comes from our service too. So our service sees your device's IP address and which part of the world your route crosses, as NASA's servers do for the imagery.

What stays on the phone

Your films and their thumbnails, the stops, look, timing and format you last had open, a thirty-day session token and the account we know you by, so the app knows you offline. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Measuring our ads and the app's use

Sky İnk advertises on Instagram and Facebook. To see which ads lead to installs, the app (from version 1.2) includes Meta's SDK. When it is on, it tells Meta that the app was installed and opened — with your device's model and system version, your IP address and an identifier the SDK makes for this app — and nothing about your routes, your films or your account. It never uses the advertising identifier and never asks to track you across other companies' apps; Meta also receives Apple's own install attribution (SKAdNetwork), which names no one.

From version 1.3 the app also includes Google Analytics for Firebase, which tells us how the app is used — when it is opened, for how long, on which version, device and system — with an identifier the SDK makes for this app, and the country and city Google estimates from your IP address. It sees nothing about your routes, your films or your account; it never uses the advertising identifier, stores nothing for advertising, and takes no part in Apple's install attribution.

Both are on from the first launch. Turn them off or on any time in the iPhone's Settings → Sky Ink → Measure ads and usage; off stops both at once and resets the identifier Google Analytics made. What Meta and Google do with it is covered by Meta's privacy policy and Google's.

What we never do

No advertising inside the app, no sale of personal data, no tracking across other companies' apps and websites, and no measurement beyond the above.

Who else touches it

Your choices

Account → Delete account removes the account and everything it owns: routes, saved looks, favourite places, sessions, any films made on the web and the link to Apple or Google. Films already in Photos are yours and stay there. Sign out ends one session.

The studio in a browser keeps different things and has its own privacy page. Questions, or something on this page that does not match what you see: hello@skyink.co.
